Back in Tiger Town
What originally brought me back to Clemson University may have been a George Strait concert, but the weekend ended up meaning so much more than that.
Getting the chance to come back to the place that shaped so much of my early college experience was incredibly special on its own, but one of the most meaningful parts of the trip was reconnecting with Tori Niemann Lukens.
Long before Play Her Potential had a name, a mission statement, or a clear vision, Tori was already inspiring the ideas behind it through the way she poured into student athletes. She was someone who constantly emphasized growth beyond sport, leadership, confidence, and helping athletes recognize who they were outside of competition. Looking back now, I can clearly see how much those conversations and experiences influenced the mission I carry today.
It was also so special getting to see how much the volleyball program and facilities have continued to elevate. Walking through the updated spaces and seeing the investment being poured into women’s athletics was genuinely inspiring. There is something really powerful about watching your dream school continue to grow and evolve while still feeling connected to the people and experiences that helped shape you.
Weekends like this always remind me how full circle life can be. Sometimes you return for something simple, like a concert, and leave reflecting on the people, places, and moments that quietly helped shape your purpose long before you fully understood it yourself.
