A Different Kind of Y-Club Lesson

At Y-Club today, I decided to do something a little different.

Instead of leading a lesson or activity, I simply gave the kids the opportunity to write me a note, message, or draw a picture if they wanted to. I thought it would just be a small reflective moment, but I honestly left feeling overwhelmed in the best way possible.

Reading through their notes and seeing all the pictures they created meant more to me than I can fully put into words.

Some wrote about their favorite memories from our lessons together. Others shared kind words about how much they loved our time together, the activities we did, or simply how excited they were each week to come to Y-Club. A few of the drawings honestly deserve to be framed forever.

What impacted me most was realizing that sometimes you never fully know if what you are doing is making a difference until moments like this happen.

So often, I walk into these spaces hoping the kids leave feeling more confident, supported, and encouraged. But on this day, they were the ones pouring back into me.

It reminded me that impact is not always measured through huge moments or accomplishments. Sometimes it looks like handwritten notes, crayon drawings, misspelled words, and children simply feeling safe enough to express love and appreciation openly.

I left that day feeling incredibly blessed, grateful, and reminded exactly why Play Her Potential matters so much to me.
