Y-Club Reflection
During my recent visit with the YMCA Y-Club, I led a confidence lesson using the Women’s Sports Foundation We Play Interactive system. The goal of the lesson was to help kids understand how sports and competition can be powerful learning experiences.
We talked about how the value of sports goes far beyond winning or losing. Through games and discussion, the kids explored how competition teaches important life skills like teamwork, resilience, respect, and confidence. Every challenge on the court or field becomes an opportunity to grow, improve, and support others.
It was exciting to watch the kids reflect on their own experiences in sports and realize that effort, learning, and having fun with teammates are just as important as the final score. Moments like these are a reminder that youth sports are not just about competition, they are about building stronger, more confident young people.
