Another Reading at Alpha Hart Lewis Elementary

I recently returned to Alpha Hart Lewis Elementary for another reading visit, and the kids made one thing very clear from the start. They wanted the LeBron chapter, even though Michael Jordan will always be the GOAT in my book. Regardless, I loved seeing how excited they were to hear a story about a player they admire and recognize.

What made this visit especially meaningful was what happened afterwards. My girls told me they want a WNBA player story next time, which made my heart so happy. Hearing them ask for women’s stories and representation is exactly why this work matters.

They also helped me adjust my crown, gave their honest fashion opinions, and asked if I could come play with them at recess one day. Their confidence, curiosity, and joy filled the room, and moments like that remind me how important it is to show up, listen, and keep creating spaces where girls feel seen and inspired.
